Faerie Card

Yesterday I showed a card using colored pencils and OMS so today I thought I show one using Copic Markers. On Wednesday, I was lucky enough to attend a Copic Technique class offered at a stamp store. I learned a lot and realized that using my markers takes time and practice. I came right home and started practicing. I decided to use one of my new Faerie's from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design. Meet Bryony:

I used CPS Sketch #98 for this card. I really like how the sketch allows for larger images. This card is actually 5x5. DP is Chatterbox. Here is a close up of Bryony:

Isn't she cute?! If you've never been to Susana's you should really stop by. She keeps adding stuff and I can't keep up. For Christmas, I received quite a few Faerie's so look for more cards using those images soon!

I want to take a moment and thank everyone for the nice comments and emails about my work. It really appreciate the feedback and love that you are looking at my blog! Don't forget you can become a follower just by clicking the link on the right.

Not sure if I'll get to post over the weekend. I have another FUNShop! and am looking forward to it. We are doing a card utilizing our Scor-Pals and a cute little treat bag that is perfect for Valentine's day but could also work for other occasions. I'll share those projects soon!

Have a great weekend and thanks for looking!

Chickadee Card

It seems like forever since I have had the opportunity to just sit down and color. I received this image from a swap I was in and I must tell you it's not one I would have initially bought for myself. HOWEVER, I'm starting to look at stamps in a WHOLE new way and I must say I LOVE THIS IMAGE!!! I'm totally on this bird/nature kick - I mean when you really think about nature it's AMAZING!! We live near a lake and right now we are getting TONS of geese in - it's so neat to watch them all fly in every morning, eat in the "fields" and then fly on to the lake to rest. ANYWAY, here's my card.

I used Splitcoast Stampers card sketch #208. Normally most of my cards are 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. This one is a little bigger. It's actually 4 1/2 x 6. With the size of the image I really needed a larger card. I found envelopes at Wal-Mart that are size 4 3/4 x 6 1/2 which are great for larger cards! Here is a close up of the image:

I put diamond glaze on the berries. I also used ultra fine glitter for the snow dots. I colored the image with my Prismacolor Pencils and OMS. DP is BasicGrey. I finished the card with some ribbon and dew drops.

Pretty cool huh? I really like how it turned out! When I showed it to my hubby his comment was "YOU colored this?" Guess that means that my practicing is paying off!! Would love to hear what you think, so be sure to leave me a comment!

Thanks for looking!!

Kansas Weather

The last weekend in December, we had the STRANGEST weather here in Kansas. Friday started out with temperatures in the high 60's which broke lots of records. By Friday night we were in a Tornado Watch (in DECEMBER mind you!!!). Our house is located on a little hill so we can really hear the north wind. When we went to bed, the temperature kept dropping, the wind picked up and it started raining. The rain turned to hail, then sleet. When we woke up there was ice everywhere. It then started to snow and the temperatures were in the low teens. By Sunday, the ground was covered in snow and the trees in ice. Jay and Abby decided to play in it before it melted away (which it did soon thereafter).

Although it was cold, they had a blast! Where was I? Inside drinking hot coffee, stamping and enjoying a little quiet time :)

Flutter By Wednesday

Happy Wednesday! I'm so excited for today is my first day as an official Flutter By Wednesday Team member. Every Wednesday, I'll post a card where I've used a butterfly. This Wednesday, I used a butterfly from the Retro Butterflies stamp set from The Angel Company. The sketch comes from Heather and is for my Yahoo group, CreateACard (CAC). I normally post my CAC sketch card on Tuesday but when I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to use it for Danni's challenge.

I used lots of bling on my butterfly and the paper is from DCWV. Danni will be giving away blog candy to those who play along so be sure to check out her blog for all the details! To see other AWESOME creations, check out the links to the other team members on the right!

So how about it? Want to participate in the Flutter By Wednesday challenge? Just make a card using a butterfly and share your creations. If you upload to a gallery like SPS or PCP be sure to use keyword FBW39.

Can't wait to see what you come up with - Happy fluttering!!

Keychains

Here's a quick little gift that I made for Christmas gifts. I found the key chains at Wal-Mart in the photo section. The plastic cover just pops off and then you can put whatever you want in them. Whenever I order prints from Shutterfly, I get an index page. I always keep the pictures for I feel there will be something I'll want to use them for. Well these small images were PERFECT for the key chains. I could get a lot of pictures on there. I mounted the photos on black cardstock (size 1 3/4 x 2 3/4).

Since the covers come off it would be easy to change out the pictures. Abby wanted to draw Aunt Shannon a picture for hers and I also made up a sheet with photos on it so she could change it when she wanted to.

The backs of the key chains were smooth so I decided to apply rub-ons to them to make them more personal.

I bought some extras to have on hand for last minute gifts and to put in my goodie basket (for when I do FUNShops!).

Photo Cube

Yeah!! I'm back to posting :) There are a few of you that read my blog and if you feel so inclined sign up to be a follower to the right there...I mean let me know you like my blog so I'll keep posting, LOL!

As promised here is one of the Christmas gifts that I made this year. These are photo cubes that I first found at Archiver's and then at Wal-Mart. They are exactly the same. I bought them a LONG time ago (ok really it was like 6 months) because I thought they would be so fun to make. Did I do them right away? Nooooo, but that's ok cause they made GREAT Christmas gifts. One of my goals for 2009 is to use the stuff I actually buy! I have two plastic tubs full of items I want to make/alter - I'm going to start using them!

This is the top of the photo cube. I liked how you can put objects in the cube. I did have to put a little glue (I used Zip Dry since it dries clear) along the bottom two ledges so it would stay together. The reason I'm pretty sure I had to do this was because I decorated the top of the cube...so you may not need to do this depending on how you decorate yours.

The next photos are of the sides of the cube. I made an X with cardstock and decorated the sides. So instead of 4 large pictures I could use 8 wallet size photos.

I put cardstock on the bottom of the cube so I could put my stickers/rub-ons on it. On one of the cubes that I made I actually just put the rub-ons on the cube itself. I did find that you had to be careful of what your colors were. If the photo was dark it was sometimes hard to see the rub-ons. If you have a ton of white rub-ons/stickers then you shouldn't have an issue.

On some of the sides I chose to decorate it instead of having a picture.

I really like how there is dimension inside the cube. This cube was for my mom and she really liked it. I also made one for my sister and one for my MIL.

The project went really fast once I had the dimensions all figured out. I ordered wallet prints from Shutterfly (they come 4 to a sheet) so I could make them for family and one for me! To make it easy for you to create your own, I've included the instructions on how I made mine.

INSTRUCTIONS:

You'll need 4 pieces of cardstock that are 4 11/16 x 3 5/16 and score them between 2 5/16 & 2 6/16. The top & bottom pieces of cardstock are 3 5/16 x 3 5/16. For each side, you can photos up to size 2 3/16 x 3 3/16. Sometimes I had that be my cardstock and had my photo be 2 x 3 so I had a nice mat. I decorated each "page" before adhering them all together. When you are finished decorating, just adhere each "page" together so you end up with an X. You then put the X on top of the bottom cardstock. If you are going to decorate the bottom cardstock, I put my X in there, used a pencil to mark the triangle that would be open (see the Abby side or the Soccer Star side above). I adhered my rub-ons/stickers, erased the pencil mark and then put the bottom cardstock in the cube. Once you are done, put the top cardstock on top of the X and put the cube together. As I mentioned before, you may need to put a little glue on the bottom edges. I used Zip Dry on mine and then let it sit overnight with a heavy book on top of it.

That's it! Got questions? Just ask! As always, I'd love to hear what you think! Thanks for looking!
