Flutter By - Summer Style

Happy Wednesday - whew this week is flying by!! I have to tell you it's been HOT here - in the upper 90's with heat index into the 110 - 115. Heat advisory the last 3 days and I'm SOOOOO ready for it to end! I keep asking myself why we don't have our pool up - I mean this would be the days that I'd be living in water!! What's really tormenting is taking Abby to swim lessons and watch her in the water while I'm sitting in the sun just wishing I could jump right in with her!!

So today our challenge on the Flutter By team was issued by Kimmie - we are supposed to make an outdoorsy card using either a butterfly or fairy. I decided to use Mojo Monday week 92 sketch for my card.

I didn't stamp anything (except the sentiment) and all the papers are from the DCWV Blossoms & Butterflies stack. Now I arranged my papers (subconsciously) like this - green on the bottom (grass), blue on the top (sky) and I matted in yellow (for the sun). Pretty neat huh? Me thinks I'm a genius, lol! The papers have glitter on them so it's a really pretty card in person!

Be sure to drop by Danni's blog to check out her card and to play along. Just link your creation using the Mr. Linky tool so we can all check out your creation. Last week I checked out some of the participants cards and whooweee they were pretty! Can't wait to see what you do this week! Also, stop by the other DT's blogs to see their outdoorsy card and thank Kimmie for a wonderful challenge!

Stay cool and thanks for stopping by!!

Giveaway

WOW - Anna has an awesome giveaway going on right now. She's giving away a TON of Angel Company stamps. Visit her blog to see all the details! Boy do I hope I win this one :o)

Christmas Challenge #22

Good Morning - are you ready for the week? Mine is going to be very busy!! Between swim lessons, a FUNShop and seminar it will be one crazy week!! I'm already starting to feel a little frazzled and the week just started! I mean I need to finish trades, figure out what I'm going to wear (which also means doing laundry), along with many other day to day duties...can anyone give me more time?! I'm sure we could all use some more time...

Moving on :o) I was so glad that the challenge Maria issued this week was an open one. Anything goes. Just create. Sometimes that's good. It helps you feel refresh and takes some pressure off. Don't get me wrong - I love a challenge and a sketch as much as anyone but sometimes I need a break. KWIM?

This week I made a card using a retired stamp from The Angel Company. I stamped and embossed it on glossy cardstock and then colored it in with Tombow markers. I then cut out the image.

If you notice there is no pattern paper on this card (SHOCKER!). I used Curls n Swirls stamp set (again from The Angel Company) to make my own subtle background paper using VersaMark Ink. Hopefully you can see that better in this next picture.

So what do you think? Have you started making your holiday cards yet? Be sure to stop by the Christmas Stampin' All Year Long Blog and check out what the other DT members came up with this week. Should be fun since it was an open challenge! Why not play along? Leave a comment on the blog with a link to your creation and we'll check it out!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

With Heartfelt Thanks

Good Morning! Is it hot enough for you? Not sure what the weather is like where you are but here it is getting HOT and HUMID - I'm talking 105 degrees. It's the kind of weather where you go out your front door, walk to your mailbox, return to your house and then have to take a shower because you are so hot and sticky!! I don't look that great in shorts and I don't like to subject others to my very white legs but when it gets this hot the white legs must come out!! Guess I better shave first, LOL!

Anyway, this morning I thought I'd share a card I made for my Dad. After my grandmother's funeral my Dad asked me if I'd make 3 special thank you cards for the funeral home, the pastor and the flower shop. I found Jen del Muro's Saturday sketch and decided to use it for the cards.

I once again was able to use scraps (YIPPEEE!) and I have to tell you I'm so LOVIN' this card!!

The stamp sets are from The Angel Company. I stamped the flower using VersaMagic inks (not sure about colors at the moment...I really need to have a laptop to keep in my room so I don't have to continuously go back and forth). I just loved how Jen cut her sentiment on her card so totally cased that idea from her!! I LOVE ribbon so decided to make little bows to add to the sentiment as well. On the inside of the card it says "thanks". As you can see I used the same color combo (and some of the same paper) that I used yesterday on my Flutter By Anya card. It's so yummy - I think purple, blue and brown might be one of my fav combos!

So what do you think? Feel free to leave me a comment as I so enjoy reading what you have to say :o). Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a COOL day!!!

I'm an independent demonstrator for The Angel Company so feel free to contact me if interested in purchasing product or if you have any questions.

Flutter By Anya

So the week is half way done and what have I accomplished - NOT a lot I tell ya!! Where or where does the time go? I have a to do list a mile long and I'm only getting like 3 things done - at this rate I'm never going to finish!! I leave next Thursday for seminar and haven't even got my trades done!!! Oh well - it seems that everything usually works out...it just may be at midnight the night before, LOL!

Well since it's Wednesday it's time for another Flutter By card!! This week the challenge was an open one - we could do whatever we wanted as long as we used a Fairy or a Butterfly. I decided to use this CA-UTE image from The Greeting Farm.

Know what's so awesome about this card? I used SCRAPS - I LOVE it when I can do that!! And IMO I think it looks good - loving the purple and blue. It's a FUN color combo! I colored Anya with my Copics (hair and skin) as well as my colored pencils and OMS. I applied a little shimmerz to her wings but realized while taking this picture that I didn't put near enough on...going to go back over that one and really make those wing tips shimmer!

So whatcha think? Want to play along? Just stop by Danni's blog and leave a link to your creation so we can all check it out!! While you are there be sure to see what Danni has made and check out Christine's card as well since she's the featured team member. Christine is so nice and I am enjoying getting to know her and her style! Also, this week we have a guest designer - it's Mary Giemza. You can see her card on Danni's blog or her blog. As always, the other designers links are in my sidebar so be sure to stop by their blogs and see what they have created this week! I promise you won't be disappointed - this is one talented design team!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Challenge #21

Good Morning and Happy Monday!! As you know every Monday I have a new Christmas Card to show as I'm part of the Stampin' All Year Long DT. This week Debbie issued our challenge to use eyelets in creative ways. First off, I have TONS of eyelets - had to have them in all colors, shapes and sizes. BUT to actually use them - yeah, not so good. I'm looking forward to seeing what the other DT members did so I can do some serious CASEing. Plus I'd love to see what YOU do - so why not play along!! Just go to the blog and leave a linky with your creation so we can check it out!

For my card, I started off with snowflake eyelets. They were in a blue that didn't match my paper so I inked them in white Staz-on and heat set. When I did adhere the eyelets a little of the ink came off so I just re inked them afterwards. That's when I decided to add a little white to the cardstock. Next, I used eyelets on a border and threaded my ribbon through it. I'm not sure what I was wanting to do but I like how it turned out so I left it, LOL! Of course, it helps to have a cute image and Changito from Stampendous was a perfect choice. I colored him with my Copics and I even added a little liquid Applique to his skates. I used Heather's sketch for last week to make this card. I like how it allows for a pretty good size focal image so I'm sure I'll be using it again!

That's it for me today - Abby has another Tball game and photos are taken tonight. Abby also starts swim lessons. She's so excited! I had to buy her new goggles as her last pair just wasn't "girly" enough (her words, not mine!). Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!!

As promised...

Here are a few pictures from Abby's T-ball games. She's having so much fun playing! I told her I was going to take pictures so she did this little pose...she's a funny girl, I tell you!!

As part of the uniform, they each got a hat to wear. Abby's not much for wearing hats so she likes to wear hers backwards - I think she looks adorable and her hair is so cute hanging out back. This is her getting ready to bat - it's funny how she picks out a particular bat to use each time.

In this league, they get 3 balls pitched to them by the coach. If they don't hit those then they can hit the ball off the tee. She comes so close each time...

And here she is hitting it off the tee. She lines up her bat and really concentrates (see the tongue) on smacking that ball!

At this particular game, she was so sad because she wasn't having enough action on the field - she was bored. Luckily the last inning she got to stop quite a few balls. Here's a little field action of her.

Isn't she a cutie? Yes, I'm a little biased but still don't you think she's cute? Thanks for looking!

Time to Flutter By

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. Unfortunately, I do not have a Flutter By card today. As you know, my grandmother passed away and I have not been home much because of it. So please forgive me as I just couldn't find the time or energy to create a card. BUT that doesn't mean YOU can't create one! This week the challenge was to use a sketch - any sketch - to create your card. Remember your card must include either a butterfly or fairy to play along! Check out Danni's blog to leave the link to your creation. While you are there check out Lelia's card - she's the featured team member this week! Don't forget to check out all the team member's blogs to see all the wonderful Flutter By creations - this team is so freakin' talented!! Each week I'm in awe over all their creations!!

Happy Wednesday and keep on fluttering!

Monday's Christmas Creation

Time for another Christmas Card. This week our challenge was to use buttons and ribbon. Not hard, right? I mean doesn't just about every card I make have ribbon! I chose to do a "winter" theme.

The snowman is a chipboard accent that I added buttons to and a felt hat. I just drew little arms/hands with a pen. I punched two circles and tied the ribbon through them. I used my dymo labeler for the sentiment.

Be sure to check out the Stampin' All Year Long blog to see the other fabulous team members cards. Also, since it's such a wonderful challenge using stuff I'm sure you have, why not play along? We'd LOVE to see your creation and it's a great time to get started on those Christmas cards!! I was in Hobby Lobby the other day and they had a whole aisle with Christmas Ribbon already out!! I was like holy cow they are early but I guess we do start seeing that stuff in July and that will be here before you know it - VERY scary thought!!

Thanks for stopping by and looking! Have a great day!

Weekend of Tears - Good & Bad

Hi! How was your weekend? I know mine was busy! This weekend, I drove to Hill City, KS to see my best friend from college get married! She's just the sweetest and I'm so happy she's finally found her Mr. Right!! It took us 4+ hours to get there and it was hot! Her wedding was outside and it was over 90 degrees!! It was a wonderful ceremony and didn't seem to last very long. Afterwards, the reception was held at one of the fairgrounds building. There was great food, dancing and tons of fun! They even had their own firework show - how cool is that? I guess it's one of the benefits of living in a small town! Here's a great picture of Kari and I at the reception - of course, by this time my make up had all but melted away ...

One of Abby's favorite things to do is dance so when the music started playing we were right out there dancing away -

We didn't see her too much after this as she wanted to dance alone and play with her "new" friends, lol!

We were going to stay all night in Hill City and drive back today but I got some bad news about my grandmother. Unfortunately, I didn't make it back before she passed away. I'm very sad to see my grandmother go but she has dealt with Alzheimer's for almost 10 years and this last month has been very difficult. I'm thankful that I just saw her a little over a week ago and got some pictures and was able to talk with her. I know she is in a better place and grandpa is so happy to see her after 30 years - there is definitely a party going on in Heaven today!

Scrapbook Layouts

Hi! Today I thought I'd share some scrapbook pages that I made. I was asked by Abby's preschool to design a scrapbook page for a teacher that was retiring. I had so much fun switching gears from card making to scrapbooking - it has definitely made me want to scrapbook more! I have so many wonderful pictures and they really should be on a page or wall rather than a box!!

The school bought the cutest album PERFECT for a teacher. Instead of putting a picture I made a subtitle.

Next is the title page. I used a quote that the preschool requested, along with the teachers years of service at CUMPS.

I then made layouts that the teacher could add photos to. The preschool had a staff party for her, which is what this layout is for. Here is page 1:

and page 2

So what do you think? The paper is from Imaginise. The apples are stamps (also from imaginise) that I cut out. The stamp had a "face" which I didn't want so I just cut it out - one of the good things you can do with unmounted stamps!!

I did a few more pages (which I'll share later). This album was a complete surprise to the teacher and she absolutely loved it. I've agreed to do a few more pages for the teacher - she'll pick the photos and the events and I'll scrapbook them for her. I love seeing the end results make a person happy and know that they will treasure it for years to come!

Thanks for stopping by - have a great day!!

Just wanted...

to let you know that I've updated my blog with all the June specials from The Angel Company! You can find them on my sidebar right under my loyal followers.

There are some great specials and a BRAND NEW ROBOT set!! It's a sneak peek from the new catalog that will be released at the end of June! It's so cute - I can't wait to get my hands on it!!

Speaking of new catalogs - I'll be ordering those soon so let me know if you'd like one so I can make sure I have a copy especially for you! I've seen a few sets from it and let's just say they are pretty darn cool!!

Please feel free to email me if you are interested in purchasing any of the specials or if you have any questions!!

Flutter By Time

Sorry for the MIA - I'm wondering if this is how my summer is going to be!! I need to establish a routine and it's just not happening. More importantly the mojo isn't happening either - hard to create when you don't feel like it!! We all go through those ups and downs and I know I'll be back at it again just not sure when. We'll see - I did order a few things last week so those should be coming in. Nothing seems to help like new product!!

The challenge this week for the Flutter By team was an open on - anything goes as long as you use a butterfly or a fairy. Thank goodness, for me and my lack of mojo-ness! To play along be sure to visit Danni's blog and leave the link to you creation. While you are there check out the featured team member Chris. I've been lucky enough to get to know Chris this last month and she is just the nicest person and her work is AMAZING!! I can't wait to see her creation - they always take my breath away! Our guest designer this week is none other than the very talented Cindy Haffner. She does such wonderful work and I look forward to seeing what she creates! We are also welcoming back Kimmie to the design team - glad she's able to join the team once again!!

Now on to my card for the week. Just did a little stamping, a little piercing and added a little embellishments and poof you've got a quick, cute card!

I wasn't sure what colors to use but the package of butterfly buttons that I bought had orange, yellow and pink so I decided to use that. I stamped swirls and then pierced the dotted swirl just to add something to the card. I'm not a huge fan of kraft cardstock but here lately it's growing on me. I added pearls to two of the butterfly buttons and ribbon to the third.

Well that's it for me - let's hope that this afternoon I find some mojo and do some creating! Something is seriously wrong with me as I'm not even getting on the computer and I LIVE for the computer!! I hope you have a fabulous Wednesday and if you have time why not make a flutter by card and play along! Thanks for looking!!

Weekend Adventures

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Good, I hope! Mine was very busy but oh so nice. I even took time out to watch a movie which doesn't happen very often! My hubby took me to dinner Saturday for our anniversary and he surprised me by taking me to the same restaurant as the one he did the night he proposed!! It was even better food this time and great to have a dinner without Abby being the center of attention - I mean we actually talked!!

Abby had a great time visiting the grandparents but was a little upset to find out she lost her lovey! Now if anyone knows us then they know that Pink Boo (as she calls it) goes EVERYWHERE with us - that pink bear is not the nicest looking. It's been cuddled A LOT and her eyes are scratched, her nose has been broke and glued again, I think she even stinks and I wash her OFTEN. But to Abby, it's everything! Since Jay and I weren't there we are trying to find her by what we told they did - but since all this happened in Lawrence and Gardner, it's not very easy to go looking for her. We are hopeful but we lost her one other time and was so fortunate of the individual who found her. This time it appears the last place was a ball field in Gardner, KS - I'm hoping that all the families out there took one look at Pink Boo and realized that this bear IS very special to someone. Abby's doing pretty well - there was only a handful of times that the big tears and "I miss Pink Boo" was stated. I PRAY that we are able to find her and this time she is going in a plastic case and will be on display so we don't lose her again!! :o) Here's a picture of Abby & Pink Boo - can you tell she adores her??
Here's hoping & praying we find her!!
I was not able to complete the Chirstmas Challenge this week. The challenge was to use numbers and I couldn't get my brain to think that way. I was going to just make a Christmas card but haven't done that either. BUT the other members have some awesome cards to share so go check out the blog to see them as well as read about the challenge this week. As always, we'd love to have you play along so be sure to share whatever you create! Now is a great time to get started on those cards!!

Last thing before I go, please realize that I have been looking at your blogs but not leaving comments - I'm just trying to do too much right now. I will be by in the next few days to leave comments again on all your wonderful creations! You are all so very talented! Thank you for all your comments on my blog and for taking the time to read & look at my posts. I so enjoy that and hope you enjoy visiting!!
